Blood doping

[edit]

Additionally, Virén was alleged to have been involved in the practice of blood boosting which involves freezing blood plasma, then having it returned to the body later to improve the oxygen content by increasing the white cell count.

Increased oxygen content would come from increased RBC, not WBC, surely? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.154.217.240 (talk) 21:20, 16 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

there is a film documentary that clealy shows Viren storing blood from altitude before the munich olympics, the devastating result is prefontaine's alcoholic depression and car accident sometime after this olympics, as he could not understand how he lost —Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.154.101.154 (talk) 02:49, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • I would be very skeptical as a reader when seeing an unsourced section of an article entitled "rumors." We should state whether such practices were allowed at the time and whether they are allowed today under the WADA Code. Racepacket (talk) 00:55, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
